Dave Herrero | Lead guitar/vocals

Dave Herrero has been singing and playing guitar professionally since the age of 18. He's fond of saying that music is in his blood. “My grandfather, with a third-grade education, was arranging for 17-piece orchestras in the Dominican Republic by the age of 16. His band, Luis Herrero & The Dominican Serenaders, played the World’s Fair in NYC in 1939 and the first color broadcast television show ever out of NYC. So the way I see it, I’m simply carrying on a family tradition.”

Dave has had a steady career to date, playing USO tours of Hungary, Bosnia and Macedonia, where he played guitar with Archie Bell and the Drells (“Tighten Up!”), touring Europe 13 times under his own name and working with his current band, featuring some of the finest musicians anywhere. Dave Herrero & The Hero Brothers Band are currently touring throughout Europe and the US, and you can find them performing monthly at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago. He also recently had the privilege of co-producing a new CD for soul/blues legend Jimmy Burns entitled Stuck in the Middle.

Felix Reyes | Guitar/vocals

Felix Reyes is a gem. He's been working closely with Dave for the past 16 years. He’s one of those rare people in this world who has taken it upon himself to inspire the next generation of musicians and always holds a high standard of excellence.

Felix has been playing guitar, singing and songwriting professionally for more than 30 years. He hails from Dallas, and over the years he's also lived and played in Atlanta and now the Chicago area. In addition to playing with the band, he produces out of his home studio, The House of Tone, in Oak Park.

His successes include writing songs for Dave Herrero and his own bands, along with penning the title track for Susan Tedeschi’s Grammy-nominated Wait for Me album. He’s shared the stage with B. B. King (5 times), Jimmie Vaughan, Gregg Allman, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Sam Lay, Eddy Clearwater, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Zuzu Bollin, Little Joe Blue—the list goes on and on. To his additional credit, he was mentor to the late Sean Costello.

Bands Felix has been fortunate enough to play with over his career include The Weebads, The Joy Drops, The Maceos, Felix and The Cats, Lotssa Poppa and The Down to Earth Blues Band, the Grady “Fats” Jackson Band and the Sil Austin Band.

Ed Strohsahl | Bass

Atlanta native Ed Strohsahl has worked with Dave on and off for the past 16 years. Ed began playing bass at the age of 10, before switching to jazz in high school. He attended the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies. While attending UNF, Ed freelanced as a bass player for numerous jazz, R&B and blues artists in the region.

In addition to performing and recording, Ed taught privately, participated in numerous music clinics and workshops at area schools and spent a month in Senegal as part of a cross-cultural music collaboration funded by the state of Florida. Ed moved to New York City in 2001 and began performing around the city, as well as teaching at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center's “Jazz for Teens” program, wherein promising teens received intense extra-curricular instruction from local musicians. Ed relocated to the Midwest in 2008, where he now works as a freelance bassist and a producer with Trackforce Productions, producing music for several national television shows along with The Hero Brothers.

Andrew Blaze Thomas | Drums

is the newest addition to The Hero Brothers Band. Coming on after the recording of the soon-to-be-released album Corazón, Andrew has been bringing the album to life here in Chicago and will be touring with the band in Europe to kick off the release.

Andrew had his first recording session at 16 playing drums for his church, New Miracle Temple. After earning a BA from Western Illinois University, he began touring the US and Europe with a list of blues and rock bands that includes Liz Mandville Greeson, Bernard Allison, Nigel Mack, Ana Popovic, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Shawn Kellerman, Mississippi Heat, Lucky Peterson, Tyler Mac and Anthony Gomes.
